I was a buyer for Midwest Mountaineering, a specialty outdoor store, for 7 years. During that time, I've had the opportunity to own+test probably 20 dog jackets for my 2 dogs. I was limited by store money and brand notoriety, among other things, so this product didn't get the attention it very much deserved... This jacket is definitely the best one I've used. Most of the others didn't provide enough coverage and just didn't stay super secure to my dogs while out on the snow trail. My dogs have warmish fur-coats, but not fluffy, winter-specific ones. So, the way I kept them warm when snowshoeing on -20 days was using a snug soft-shell or fleece jacket, with this over top. I also had a dog buff to put around their ears and winter booties.
1 of those 2 dogs passed away 6 months ago and now I have a puppy Aussie. I intend to get another one of these once he gets full size since the jackets I have now won't be big enough for him when he's an adult. Because his fur is more capable of cold temperatures, I will probably only use this jacket; I don't want to compress his lofty fur too much, which is what a soft-shell and fleece would do.
I highly recommend this product.
